Make Yourself at Home
During the shutdown, I immersed myself in my surroundings, capturing various recordings throughout my house and neighborhood. My daily walks revealed the profound silence that enveloped the world, gradually giving way to the vibrant sounds of a city awakening from its slumber. I transformed these recordings into a four-channel audio installation, illustrating the multifaceted nature of home. This work traverses the intimacy of our interiors, the thresholds where we connect with the outside world—friends, strangers, nature—and extends to the broader community that shapes our understanding of what home truly means.
The Vault Gallery, housed in a historic municipal building featuring an actual vault, provided the perfect backdrop for my installation. I aimed to create a serene environment where visitors could close their eyes and immerse themselves in this layered interpretation of home.
The image to the right is of the installation viewed from outside the vault, and the audio below is a stereo mix of the 4-channel audio experienced inside the vault.
